dark-chocolateWhat? Did someone just say “chocolate” and “diet” together? Sign me up! The idea behind this popular British diet is to break yourself of the addiction of chocolate by incorporating just small amounts into an otherwise, very healthy, low calorie and low fat diet.

Here’s how it works: Sally Ann Voak, the creator of this diet, says that there are six different types of chocolate addicts, ranging from mild to extreme. Depending on where you fall out on the spectrum, the more strict your diet will be.

Everyone starts out with at least one week of chocolate-free eating. Yes, it seems ironic, but the Chocolate Diet starts by saying No Chocolate Allowed. Then, after that first week, most dieters will be able to eat about 150 calories worth of chocolate per day.

So how will you lose weight? Weight loss occurs because while you may be consuming chocolate everyday (by the way, it’s dark chocolate, not sugary milk chocolate), you’ll also only be consuming about 1,100 calories, which is a reduced-calorie plan that can aid quick weight loss. Dieters are also encouraged to exercise frequently.

This is actually a good diet for people with high cholesterol to try and is compatible with diet pills and cholesterol medications. Dark chocolate is loaded with flavonoids, antioxidants which promote heart health.

Yes, you can reintroduce chocolate into your lifestyle in a healthy manner. You’ll reduce your cravings for it by making it a regular part of your meal plan, you won’t feel deprived (except maybe during that first week), you’ll lose weight fast, and you’ll lower cholesterol levels.

How’s that for a dream diet?
